Former Young Guitarist of the Year
Contemporary blues-rock packed with energy and memorable hooks

Irishman Simon McBride evokes the spirit of such great bands as Free and Led Zeppelin - that point in musical history when blues guitar blossomed into a sound and an attitude of mind that defined a generation and continues to inspire.

McBride’s talents as a guitarist are undeniable. He first started playing at age 10 and (self taught) at 15 he was Guitarist Magazine’s Young Guitarist of The Year, a performance competition won against strong competition. He was immediately recruited by Sweet Savage (Vivian Campbell/Def Leppard) with whom he recorded two albums and regularly played major festivals. That was 13 years ago, since when he has toured the world as guitarist for diverse acts including Grammy nominated soulman Andrew Strong, and along the way he has played with artists like TM Stevens, Charlie Morgan, Zorro, Hugh Burns, Slash and Steve Lukather.

As both a virtuoso guitarist and an Irishman (hailing from near Belfast) comparisons are often made with Rory Gallagher and Gary Moore, though he sounds like neither in particular.

All the time there was lurking behind his guitar an outstanding voice and a talent for song writing that has now finally seen the light of day. Following the release of his debut album on Nugene Records, Simon has received rave reviews, not only for his stellar guitar playing but also his singing and song writing talents.

With his own band he has shared the stage with Jeff Beck and Joe Bonamassa. If you are looking for guitar pyrotechnics you will be in the right place at Blues on the Farm … But equally, if you enjoy great songs delivered with power and emotion, this band delivers in spades.
